It has been my pleasure to serve as the principal of Our Lady of the Wayside (OLW) since 2009. Our Lady of the Wayside is a remarkable school community that continues to advance and change as we work to enrich the minds, foster the Faith, and expand the talents of our student body.   Over the years our school has undergone a number of changes. In 2012 we began working with Roosevelt University as part of a Improving Teacher Quality grant. Through this grant OLW transformed its reading program to become a Balanced Literacy School. Our use of technology has advanced immensely as all middle school students now participate in a 1:1 IPAD program and IPADS are used by small groups in elementary classrooms to provide additional learning opportunities. Our Fine Arts program has also grown to include a middle school spring musical and Fine Arts Night that showcases student art, our school choirs, and our band program.  New middle school clubs like Robotics allow students to explore their interest in engineering and compete at the state level. All of these new programs are made possible by our highly dedicated teaching staff and supportive parent volunteers. Our greatest strength as a community is our ability to collaborate and come together to support one another. Through the continued dedication of the parents, teachers, staff, and parish community we will continue to improve ourselves and bring our school’s Strategic Plan to fruition.
