Our Lady of the Wayside has been a part of my life starting out as a student, parishioner, REP teacher and finally the PE/Health teacher. It is a great experience to work with all the students, watching them grow with knowledge, physical ability and spiritually. I enjoy the chance to spend additional time working with students that are on the Scholastic Bowl team. I am thankful every day that I have this wonderful job as a teacher here at Our Lady of the Wayside.

Health Class Grades 6 -8
Sixth grade Health includes: Healthy Zip Code, Personal Hygiene, Nutrition, Digestive System, and Excretory System.

Seventh grade Health reviews Personal Health and learns about the Cardiovascular System, Lymphatic System, Endocrine System and the Integumentary System.

Eighth grade reviews all previous systems and learns the Skeletal, Muscular, Respiratory and Nervous System as well as Personal Heath focusing on Drugs, Tobacco and Alcohol.

PE Classes

All PE classes meet 2x/week. Students wear gym clothes to school on their PE day. Activities include coorperative games, team play, and fitness.

Religion

The 6th graders received their Bibles on the first day of school. We will use our Bibles and our new book series, Christ in Us, to help us grow in our faith. We met our Buddies for the Wildcat Prowl in September and enjoyed cheering for them. During the year, we will hopefully have more faith-oriented and service opportunities with our Buddies. We will also make cards for the homebound throughout the year as part of 6th grade service.

Scholastic Bowl

We have a 7th and an 8th Grade team that practices Wednesdays after school in Room 19 from 3:14 – 4:00pm. This fall we will completing at St. Viator High School, Notre Dame College Prep and Loyola Academy.
