V-show Highlights

V-show 2005

If you missed this year's variety show, you're in for a treat. Two of our middle school students took pictures of the show and they are displayed below. We also thought you might want to see the lyrics to the songs performed by the teachers. We had lots of fun. Starting thinking now about your v-show act for 2007!

"Shopping" Lyrics (sung to the tune of "Downtown")
VERSE 1
When you are tired and school is making you crazy you can always go – shopping
When piles of paper seem to grow on their own, you can always go – shopping
Just listen to the music of the registers and printers,
The smell of Starbuck's coffee and the stores are air conditioned!
You have to go –
CHORUS
The lights are more flattering, you can forget lesson plans, forget overheads
So go shopping – things’ll be great when you’re
Shopping – no finer place for you
Shopping – everything’s waiting for you.
VERSE 2
When you’re fed up with kids that never stop talking you can always go – shopping
When the computer loses all of your grades you can always go – shopping
Just think of all the clothes that are now begging you to buy them
The purses, coats and shoes that must be part of your new outfit
You have to go -
(CHORUS)
(INSTRUMENTAL)
Just listen to the music of the register and printers,
The smell of Starbucks coffee and the stores are air conditioned!
You have to go –
(CHORUS)

"The Teachers and the Students Should be Friends" (sung to the tune of "The Farmer and the Cowman" from OKLAHOMA)
CHORUS
The teachers and the students should be friends
Oh the teachers and the students should be friends
Teachers want the homework done; Students want to have some fun
But that’s no reason why they can’t be friends.
Wayside folks should stick together, Wayside folks should all be pals
Students study constantly and the teachers are the best in town.
VERSE 1
I’d like to say a word for the teachers
We strive to make our classrooms the greatest
We decorate our walls and play music
And all kids do is ask us for more favors.
(CHORUS)
VERSE 2
I’d like to say a word for the students
We come to school all set to pay attention
We make a few mistakes in the meantime
And all you do is give us a detention.
VERSE 3
I’d like to say a word for the parents
We pay tuition for an education
We plan an auction and raise lots of money
And in return our kids learn conjugation.
(CHORUS)
VERSE 4
I’d like to say a word for administrators
We discipline the teachers and the students
We do the calendar and the Monday Memos
And when it’s done we just put our feet up!
(CHORUS)
