OLW Track and Field
Track and Field is coming to Our Lady of the Wayside School! Dust off your running, jumping or throwing shoes and come one for a new spring sport. Track and Field is open to all students in 5th through 8th grade, 5th and 6th grade will participate in Jr. Varsity events and grades 7th and 8th in the Varsity events.
Track and Field Guidelines:
Track and Field is open to all students in 5th through 8th grade and follows many of the same guidelines as cross country. Track and Field is a second tier sport, which means a student's participation in boy's volleyball or girl's softball will take precedence with regard to practices and games. If a student has a practice for another sport they are expected to attend that practice, not track. If a student has practice for another school sport they are expected to attend that practice, not track practice. If a student has a volleyball or softball game at the same time as a track practice or a track meet they are expected to participate in that game. There will be three confrence track meets on consecutive Saturdays. All track meets will take place at Carmel High School in Mundelein. An athlete's participation is restricted to 3 events, which is any combination of track or field events. An athelete must participate in two conference meets to be eligible for the championship meet. Academic eligibility must be maintained at all times.
