This year I am teaching seventh grade religion, language arts, seventh grade reading, and eighth grade reading.
Seventh grade religion:
Texts:: THIS IS OUR FAITH, Silver Burdett Ginn, 1999
What Are the Sacraments All About? Connect (Youth Magazine)
Silver Burdett, 1991
Family Life, Benziger 2001.
The focus for this year is a deeper understanding of our religious beliefs and traditions. As first year candidates for confirmation, your child will submit proof of five service hours and four homily evaluations. Periodic chapter and unit tests will be given. We also focus on family life which stresses God’s gift of family, self, life, love, and community.
Seventh grade language arts:
The objective of this class is to study grammar and related skills that form a foundation for the effective development of oral and written communication. With that in mind we will be working on a variety of writing assignments: persuasion, informative (research paper on the Holocaust), and informative writing explaining how and what. The structure of the compound/complex sentence will be analyzed as well as subject/verb agreement, and parts of speech. Spelling and DOL will be given on a weekly basis as well as journal writing daily except Friday.
