Although this is my fifth year of teaching kindergarten at Our Lady of the Wayside School, it is not my fifth year of teaching. I graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development. I taught preschool for ten years and in 2004, I received a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from National Louis University. I am very excited to be teaching kindergarten again this year; and to be working with your children.

I love teaching all the different subject areas, but reading is one of my favorite subjects. It is very exciting to watch the children learn to read. Learning to read is like putting a puzzle together. When all the pieces are in place, you can see the whole picture. My goal is to supply all the pieces necessary for each individual child! I also love to make learning in kindergarten a "hands-on" experience. We know that children learn best by doing, so I believe in giving them many opportunities to experiment and to be active problem solvers in the classroom. Most importantly, I recognize that all the students come into kindergarten with different skills and learning styles. I respect their individual needs and I plan lessons to differentiate instruction, so that all students have the potential to learn!
