Beginning Band
The beginning band is for any students in grades 4-8 who would like to begin a band instrument. Instruments offered in beginning band are: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone and Drum/Bells. Full band practices are on Wednesday mornings at 7:15am in the school gym. Same instrument group lessons meet throughout the day on Wednesdays.
At home practice
Students in the beginning band are required to practice their band instrument at home. A minimum of 20 minutes per day is expected. Students should be heard practicing along with the CD that comes with the band book.
Performances
The beginning band performances include: Fall Concert, Spring Concert and Memorial Day Parade
Strings N' Things / Christmas Carol Band
Play musical accompaniments to Church songs such as Lord of the Dance, Canticle of the Sun, The Great Amen, etc; sixth and seventh graders from Strings ‘n’ Things also play at the 8 th grade graduation mass; includes violinists; meet about every other week; play for some all-school masses and when requested by teachers planning the mass; play an assortment of Christmas songs before the annual Christmas Show
Pep Band
Students in Concert Band that volunteer to play at the eighth grade boys’ and girls’ Pack the Gym basketball games and/ or Championship games; meet on Fridays for at least two weeks before the event.
Strings “n” Things
This group provides music at the schools all school liturgies. 6th, 7th, 8th grade students may join this group. Practices are held during the school day one week prior to the school liturgy. |
Concert Band
The Concert band is for students with at least one year of experience on a band instrument. This intermediate band is the next step for students who have participated in the beginning band. Full band practices are on Thursday mornings at 7:15 in the school gym. Same instrument group lessons meet throughout the day on Thursdays.
At home practice
Students in the Concert Band are required to practice their band instruments at home. A minimum of 30 minutes per day is expected. Students practice will be monitored with the use of the practice log. The practice log is due each week.
Blue Star Challenges
Students will be given a challenge page approximately every two weeks. When the page is completed and performed students for the director they will earn a blue star for themselves and one star for their section. Additional stars can be earned for memorization or speed.

Honor Band
The Honor band is for students with at least two years of experience on a band instrument. This advanced band is the next step for students who have participated in the beginning and Concert bands. Full band practices are on Friday mornings at 7:15 in the school gym. Same instrument group lessons meet throughout the day on Fridays.
At home practice
Students in the Honor Band are required to practice their band instruments at home. A minimum of 30 minutes per day is expected. Students practice will be monitored with the use of the practice log. The practice log is due each week.
