Winter Aimsweb Benchmark testing is underway.  The Aimsweb system assesses the growth in Reading skills of students in grades K-5, for the purpose of assisting their teachers in providing the best possible instruction for each individual student. Because this is intended to identify students  either well above or well below the general average, its purpose is to drive the specific type of instruction  that will most benefit these students.  For this reason, results will be used exclusively by the teachers and will not be published for the general public.

This year we have been using a Guided Reading program whereby each child is taught and progresses using material aimed at their ability level. However, in some instances, more assistance is needed for the student to experience success.  When this is the case, the child will be enrolled in an additional program – Levelled Literacy Intervention.  This program is not in place of, but in addition to, their guided reading instruction within their own classroom.
