Fine Arts Night 2017

The OLW Spring Fine Arts Nights occurred this year on Thursday April 20. The evening started with third grade students on their recorders playing Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and also Beethoven. Beginning Band, which is comprised mostly of fourth graders, performed some traditional band songs like When the Saints Go Marching In. There was a beautiful violin performance by the String Ensemble. Both the fourth and fifth grade and the middle school choirs sang Disney songs; even the fifth through eighth grade Wind Ensemble presented Disney music. The Choir and Band performances ended with Irving Berlin’s God Bless America. Mrs. Meghan Newell led the choir portion and Mr. Rich Pancratz conducted the band.

During the evening, there was a LIVE ART presentation where some eighth grade students painted during the musical performances. They were asked to choose an artist and genre; before the night started, they began painting on their canvases. As the evening progressed, the eighth graders continued to paint, using the music to inspire them. At the end of the evening, their works were on display as they joined in the Choir concert. Art teacher, Mrs. Laura Frazier helped the students during the night and also painted herself.
